The Gateway to Industry Schools – Tourism and Hospitality program is dedicated to helping young people smoothly transition from school into further education or employment within industries such as commercial cookery, wine and beverages, hospitality, and tourism.
Students gain valuable insights into career opportunities through a blend of school, vocational, and academic curricula tailored to industry needs. The project provides direct support to both students and teachers, offering access to industry connections, training, professional development, work experience, and educational opportunities.
Students across Queensland can participate in workshops, cookery days, and guest speaker demonstrations, while teachers benefit from Industry-hosted Gateway Days featuring guest speaker presentations, networking events and more.

The program builds partnerships between schools and industry to enable young people to acquire the knowledge, skills, and attributes to succeed professionally. The program also creates exciting opportunities for industry and educators to work together to deliver outcomes for students, communities, and local businesses.

Working in tourism, hospitality and events brings big opportunities and career fulfillment. There are lots of flexible pathways available to help you build a career and work towards higher skilled jobs in the tourism industry.
Inspire and build practical knowledge within your students through industry training workshops. Choose from a range of events, including industry presentations, work experience, demonstrations and much more.

The Gateway to Industry Schools – Tourism and Hospitality program is excited to introduce a micro-credentialing initiative for teachers and students. This program offers students industry-focused learning and training, allowing member schools to apply for free training modules that complement VET tourism and hospitality programs taught in the classroom.
All teachers and students will receive acknowledgement for completing each micro credentialing module via a digital bade and/or completion certificate which can be added to CV’s or LinkedIn profiles. Giving them extra experience and knowledge and the ability to stand out from their peers.
